We have all natural grass fed raw milk available. Milk from cows that are not fed any grain or minimal
amounts of grain is known to have a higher level of healthful nutrients such as CLA and Omega 3’. While we do strive
to not feed any grain, we do consider the condition of our cows, and may feed minimal amounts if they are too thin.
Unfortunately, many of the dairy cows today have been selected to produce large amounts of milk by using
grain to push them along. We are striving to eliminate the grain from our dairy cows diet, but will not sacrifice
the cows condition or health in doing so. We currently have one cow that is fine with only pasture, hay and alfalfa pellets, while
another needs a little extra grain to help keep her condition. This is a very minimal amount, however, and she still
gets the bulk of her feed from pasture and hay.
You’ll notice the milk from our cows is slightly golden with a good amount of cream. If you’ve never had the
pleasure of drinking an ice-cold glass of milk that was poured after having an inch or two of rich, risen cream stirred back in, you
missed one of life’s great pleasures. In fact, we have an ongoing battle in the house about stirring the cream back into
the milk for drinking, or skimming it off for coffee cream (and of course butter and home made ice cream.)
Many people don’t know that raw milk, especially raw milk from grass fed cows, is very healthy for us. Pasteurization
and homogenization destroy many of the natural health benefits of milk. When the milk comes from cows that eat only
grass and forage but no grain, the milk also has higher levels of CLA and Omega 3’s. Many people that have had milk
allergies in the past find that they can tolerate raw milk very well. It is truly one of God’s greatest food gifts to us.
